Opened in 1959, Elk Mountain provided a small lodge, a 2200 ft. T-Bar ski lift, tow rope lifts and a small number of trails. In 1962 a double chairlift was installed, allowing for additional trails and a year later, snow-making was added, along with an new A-Frame lodge at the base of the mountain.
Elk Mountain boasts a 1000-foot vertical drop, 140 acres, 27 trails (6 greens, 10 blues and 11 diamonds) and a terrain park. Five doubles and a fixed-grip quad chair lift provide access to the top, four of which, including the quad, run from the base to the summit. Impeccable grooming and aggressive snowmaking keep the slopes in peak condition, aided by five feet of natural snow a season. The base complex features a large day lodge, all guest services, the ski school center, a restaurant, rentals, and a ski and snowboard shop.
